  • Chameleons can grow up to be over 10 years of age (with proper care).
  • The chameleons tongue can be 2 times the length of its body.
  • The smallest chameleons are smaller than your pinky, and the largest of chameleons are nearly 3 feet long!
  • Some chameleons can reach their sexual maturity as early as 6 months of age.
  • Female chameleons of some species can lay over 100 eggs per clutch!
  • The word chameleon is derived from the Greek, which means "little lion."
  • Half of the worlds chameleon species come from Madagascar (Africa).
  • Chameleons have zygodactylous toes which means that the toes are located in bundles of two and three on opposite sides of the foot.
